Harlem Tavern Food

When Harlem Tavern opened in the Spring of 2011, they wanted to highlight their diverse menu. Over the course of a two-day shoot, we were able to photograph the food, interiors, and exteriors. Shown here are five of their most colorful dishes. We set up two strobes in soft boxes to properly light the food and show off the amazing textures and colors. By using a telephoto lens (Canon 135mm f/2L) at close range, we were able to get up close and personal with the food, capturing vivid closeups of the delicious view while selectively focusing on, and highlighting, points of interest. While this effect is not for every restaurant, the overall feel ties in with the client’s brand of being clean, current, and fun.
